The Graphic Designer will create engaging and on-brand graphics for a variety of media, help execute and support the marketing, programming & fundraising departments with beautiful, high-profile, and leading-edge projects while maintaining the EFM brand across multiple platforms. To be successful in this position, candidates should be a self-starter capable of delivering brilliant creative ideas, and show amazing attention to detail. This role demands a strong sense of urgency and the ability to work independently with sound judgment. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Growth.
Contract Period & Pay: This is a part-time, on-site contract role with G&A Museum Operation, LLC at the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum (Mantua Township, NJ), spanning late February through early June at approximately 24 hours per week. Pay range is $25-$32/hr, depending on experience.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Design high-impact promotional and advertising campaigns, email marketing materials, social media, web and e-commerce assets, event collateral (including but not limited to digital ads, rack cards, brochures, posters, flyers, display, and property signage.
- Support graphic design needs of other departments, including but not limited to sales kits, private event signs, educational program materials, presentations, and special projects.
- Consistently apply and enforce brand standards concerning all company logos, images, and visuals.
- Prepare images/advertising assets as needed for digital, web, social platforms, print, packaging, and/or video.
- Retouch and manipulate images
- Assist with collateral updates and version control.
- Manage workflow and projects in a timely, efficient manner.
- Manage printing vendors.
- Support the management of internal databases of designs, photography, and video.
- Collaborate with internal staff, as well as external agencies and contractors, on design concepts and production.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent education and experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in design in an agency, in-house, or freelance.
- Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio.
- Ideal candidate has experience or passion for science, nature, and/or education.
- Must have their own laptop and reliable transportation.
- Candidates must include a portfolio to be considered
- Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills.
- Excellent computer knowledge for both Windows and Mac environments.
- Proficient in standard design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Lightroom.
- Advanced knowledge of layout, color, typography, and production.
- A keen eye for photography or creative visual tactics.
- Video editing skills are a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of designing for multiple screen resolutions and sizes.
- A good eye for high-end design and style. Passion for web technologies and graphic design.
- Must remain current on design production software.
- Ability to learn quickly with the capability to multitask and handle multiple files, jobs, and projects at once.
- Able to work well under pressure, independently, and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames.
- Proactive, eager for solving problems, and a commitment to accepting responsibility.
- Team player who can work effectively across departments.
- Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills, judgment, high integrity, and ethical character are also required.

- Writing and proofreading skills preferred.
- Desire to continue to grow skill set with ongoing education and training.
- Physical ability to evaluate visual design elements and aesthetics.
Work Setting:
- The museum headquarters is in the stunning new Edelman Fossil Park & Museum. The headquarters suite features a reception area, private offices, a large open office area, three conference rooms, a kitchenette, and an outdoor patio, situated by a 4-acre lake.
- This is a part-time, on-site position with G&A Museum Operation, LLC, based at the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum, in Mantua Township, NJ
- The role may require occasional evening or weekend work for special events or meetings.
- Working outdoors, on occasion, for events and other functions is required.
